As I understand it, post-dated checks are key with leases. Or, they are for college students, anyway.

Believe it or not, I got through my four years (or eight semesters) without ever signing anything. And I even lived off campus and outside of Ontario for three of those semesters. Huh. 

Huh. Strange. And quite possibly illegal. I'm not too sure about the last one, though.

Curious dumb American question: checks not cheques? I'm ... surprised, after all, you're Krazy Kanadian Kannuck Kara, and therefore everything must be different than I would find it.

Yay for grown-uppedness (if not grown-talledness)! Going back to school should be sorta fun, and as I've learned the last two years, it's actually really nice having a flat, as there's a noticeable sense of "ownership" that doesn't come from living at home or in dorms.

Does your being back at school bode well for more frequent updates, or does it mean that you'll be so tied up procrastinating from doing assignments that you won't have time to write?

Honestly? It could go either way.
